The student and I went over the chapter on membrane structure and function. We reviewed the lipids that make up the phospholipid bilayer and the other types of molecules that are often present within membranes. Then, we talked about the different types of proteins in the membrane and their functions (i.e. transport, cell signaling, etc.). Her teacher may ask her to list some of these functions on her test, and we discussed this possibility. Lastly, we talked about diffusion, osmosis, and active vs. passive transport. I also mentioned the different ways osmosis questions can be asked and how to avoid common pitfalls when answering these questions.

I had him derive all of the equations as he did the work, and I had him meticulously write down which equations he was using (and their units) as he did the work. He is taking to physics quite well.
