Varsity Tutors helped our son raise his SAT over 100 points, and his ACT 3 points, which resulted in being accepted at all of the schools he applied to. We were very happy with our instructor and will definitely utilize VT again for our other children.

SAT Tutoring review by Kyle in Suffolk, VA
We covered the math and writing sections for the SAT practice test. The student had already done the writing section on his own, and wanted to go over the problems that he missed. As for math, we are just working through as many problems as we can. It was a good session.

SAT Tutoring review by Folami in Suffolk, VA
The student and I spent time looking at the outline of his writing essay. His essay was not complete and he struggled coming up with ideas for the sentences. We worked on making sure that he understood the persuasive elements we discussed. We also tried to construct an essay together, he seems to have a better understanding of the set up overall. A very good class overall. His homework is to complete an essay from his class.

SAT Tutoring review by Michael in Suffolk, VA
The student just needed some refreshers from the math section. We worked on math for the entire 2 hours, and incorporated problems from every different section to help him review for the SAT this Saturday. His biggest area to focus on is slowing down and taking time to try to approach the problem step by step. As soon as he gets going, he's able to solve the problems very efficiently and accurately, but just needs a little help setting up the problem. We worked on breaking down the problems to try to understand what the question is asking and what information we can deduce from the information given to us. He ended the session well and feels confident about the upcoming test.

SAT Tutoring review by Michael in Suffolk, VA
We completed Practice Sets 16 (Trigonometry) and 1 (Linear Equations) in the math workbook; only Practice Sets 2-5 remain. For next time, the student will try to take one of the practice tests associated with the big book - including writing the essay.

SAT Tutoring review by Irina in Suffolk, VA
We covered the writing and math (no calculator) sections of a practice test. We only completed two writing passages because she is very strong in this section and I don't think she needs any more practice. I noticed she is also becoming more confident with math and needs less help analyzing the problems. We will continue to focus on math for the last session and maybe include some reading practice as well.
