Varsity Tutors helped our son raise his SAT over 100 points, and his ACT 3 points, which resulted in being accepted at all of the schools he applied to. We were very happy with our instructor and will definitely utilize VT again for our other children.

Session Summaries by SAT Tutors

SAT Tutoring review by Samantha in Peabody, MA
We focused primarily on math during this section. The student has a harder time managing his time in the math sections -- primarily the ones with free response, so we worked on prioritizing questions and how to gauge when to skip questions. He has made significant progress on all of the math since we first started working together, but still struggles with functions and graphing. We plan on working specifically on those next session along with some grammar/writing. The student is very quick to pick up on and correct his own mistakes when we go over sections.

SAT Tutoring review by Michael in Peabody, MA
In this session, the student and I: a) completed reviewing the practice test he had taken and b) concluded the session by beginning on another practice test. Most of the time spent in part B was spent on a section of math questions. The student knows how to do the vast majority of the mathematics required for the problems. Before we meet in a week's time, the student, if he has the time, is going to complete another practice test.

SAT Tutoring review by Jonathan in Peabody, MA
The student and I had another very strong session. There were a couple types of math questions she wanted to sure up, so we did just that. She needed to strengthen her ability with combinations and permutations, and she did drills until she felt much more comfortable with them. I also had her do a timed practice essay, which she did very well on, except that she veered from the question a very tiny bit, and this was something that we addressed. Overall, I'm optimistic that the student will do exceptionally well on the January test.

SAT Tutoring review by Rudy in Peabody, MA
The student did very well on her practice exam. She scored a perfect and near perfect on the Reading and Writing, respectively. She expressed that she didn't feel the same pressure that she did while taking the actual exam. We spent most of the session going over math. We reviewed the topics of sequences/series, parabolas, absolute value, substitution, and volume/area. The student seemed to understand all of the topics well and it appears that she just needed more of a refresher for each topic. We are meeting again on Weds, she is going to try and complete another exam as much as she can, but she may not be able to finish it until the session.

SAT Tutoring review by Michael in Peabody, MA
During this session, the student and I went over a practice test that I had him take while he was on vacation. We also talked about his score from his December SAT. The student had told me in December that he hadn't been feeling well when he took the test, but his score did show at least moderate improvement in each section. The practice test that he took over vacation was much better.

SAT Tutoring review by Carlos in Peabody, MA
We covered ACT grammar and mathematics, specifically square root functions. The student was very pleased to be working on more math, as that is her most obvious challenge area in the exam. I left her with another full ACT test to complete. I have seen her abilities grow enormously.
