Pre-Calculus Tutoring review by Patrick in The University of New Mexico, NM
He had a bit of trouble with a homework problem on function domains, so we did a mini-lecture on function domains, solved a few example problems, and after he demonstrated sufficient understanding of the material, I let him walk me through solving his homework problems. We'll focus on making sure he has a better grasp of the material vs. solving one homework problem after the other. Looking forward to our next session!

Pre-Calculus Tutoring review by Brian in The University of New Mexico, NM
He has a test coming up on Tuesday, and we went over the review sheet that his professor made for him. We went through about half of the sheet and he only was struggling with one of the harder problems on the sheet but he said he would ask his dad to help him more with that at home. He seems like he will do fairly well on the test, so I am not worried about that.

Pre-Calculus Tutoring review by Dwight in The University of New Mexico, NM
He seemed to have the main concepts under control. It is clear that he has had good preparation for the present work. We worked through a few problems in Section 3. I suggested he spend some more time simplifying the results. I indicated that there is some cut-and-try to factoring polynomials and practice might speed that on quizzes.

Helped her finish her past-due homework, which meant teaching her about some of the terms which have to do with describing distribution, what histograms are, more intense work on mean v median and how skewness affects them differently...and she was able to even get ahead on her project for the class!

Pre-Calculus Tutoring review by Andy in The University of New Mexico, NM
I assisted the student in completing her test review, and I further prepared her for her test on exponential and log equations. With a few formula and rule reminders, she felt much better after today's session. All of the rules and steps clicked with more practice. We reviewed methods for solving exponential and log equations, graphing, building tables, transformations of graphs, converting between the two, interest formulas, and compressing and expanding logs. She felt more confident before her test.

Pre-Calculus Tutoring review by Antonia in The University of New Mexico, NM
I continued to work with him on sketching polynomial functions and obtaining the critical points and determining the end behavior of the functions from the function equations. We worked on factoring polynomials with degrees higher than 2 as well as determining the number of real roots, the roots and their multiplicities. Also, we worked on writing a polynomial given just the roots and their polynomials. He has a quiz on Thursday, and when we meet on Wednesday, we will continue to work on the areas he feels weakest.
