Pre-Calculus Tutoring review by Michael in Concord, NC
We worked on 2 topics in the student's pre-calc class that were giving her some issues. The first were polar coordinates. She understood how to plot polar coordinates, but was unsure how to find polar pairs. She quickly grew more comfortable with this type of problem. The other topic that gave her some trouble were parametric equations. These tend to be confusing because we are introducing another variable, t, that both x and y are dependent on. Similar to the polar pairs, the student became more comfortable with parametric equations as we talked about them/worked through problems.

Pre-Calculus Tutoring review by Yeojun Caleb in Concord, NC
The student has been improving in her test taking but still makes some mistakes. She is doing with trig identities and equations, however. We covered her old tests from the past two weeks. We also added solving for variables in equations that have trig functions, including quadratic trig equations.

Pre-Calculus Tutoring review by Matthew in Concord, NC
We continued our discussion of trigonometric functions and vectors. The student wanted to go over two of his problem sets on these topics. He started on the vector problem, going through each step with little difficulty. I clarified a few points on vector addition and subtraction. After he completed the problem, he returned to the first problem set, which involved graphing a complex trigonometric function, its inverse and multiplicative inverse. The student has a solid understanding of this material.

Pre-Calculus Tutoring review by Justin in Concord, NC
We went over more polar coordinates and complex numbers, specifically the roots of complex numbers, converting between rectangular form and polar form, and different operations of complex numbers, and multiplication and division of both polar and rectangular forms of complex numbers. She really didn't have any problems with the material. Although Euler's formula was not specifically listed in her book, I taught her how to make use of it to simplify some operations of complex numbers, such as division of the polar form of complex numbers. Because she only uses her textbook as a teaching aid, she doesn't use the problems at the end of each chapter section. I suggested that she do some of those problems and to check her answers in the back of the book, as they will better prepare her for doing the problems for her upcoming exam.

Pre-Calculus Tutoring review by Liban in Concord, NC
We went over arithmetic sequences. Once given the formulas, the student had no trouble applying them. We then explored other applications of the formulas (finding consecutive missing terms, etc.). She was able to comprehend the material and felt more comfortable with the topic. We then went over conditional and marginal probability. Once we went through a couple of examples, she was able to breeze through the rest of her homework and was more comfortable with the material.

Pre-Calculus Tutoring review by Jayada in Concord, NC
First we went over zero determinants, 3 X 3 determinants, determinant solutions of 3 X 3 systems, and independent equations. Student struggled finding the value of determinant using 2 different solution methods. After that we covered cofactors and expansion by cofactors. The student scored 90% in her last unit test compared to 78% when we started at first. Student is very happy and excited as her grades are moving up really fast.
