Physiology Tutoring review by Theresa in Framingham, MA
Today we continued preparation for the quiz the student has tomorrow on reactions at equilibrium. She seems very comfortable with the material overall! She was able to do the remaining problems on her problem set without assistance and identified the few questions she did have for me. She's feeling relatively confident for her test tomorrow, and had her own study plan set out. Her extra preparation for the exam will be in the form of reviewing the work we did together along with the independent study she did by reading the book.

We answered questions on the student's homework about electrochemistry. We got confused on some problems. However we finished most of the problems. We will discuss again those skipped problems tomorrow.

Physiology Tutoring review by Josie in Framingham, MA
The student and I went over both physics and algebra 2 today. We started the lesson with physics and went over her homework on waves. It went pretty well and she seemed to grasp the equation lambda=xd/ln by the end and could accurately identify each component from the problems. She finished the homework pretty quickly. Next, we went over her math because she has a test tomorrow and didn't do as well as she would have liked on her last quiz. We discussed how to graph sin, cos, and tan on a coordinate plane. This involved being able to find the amplitude, phase shift, midline shift, stretch/shrink, period change, and asymptotes. She knew what each of those things were, but had a little bit of issue being able to identify them for the different kinds of graphs. By the end of the lesson, however, she had very little trouble telling me what each answer should be, especially with sin and cos.

We covered entropy, enthalpy, endothermic and exothermic reactions, Le Chatelier's principle, equilibrium and factors affecting rates of reactions. She had some problems with understanding the factors affecting the rates of forward and reverse reactions. The student is very quick in understanding the concepts.

Physiology Tutoring review by David in Framingham, MA
We covered conversion factors and significant figures. The student was eager to understand. We focused on understanding how to read chemistry problems and trying to visualizes what the question was saying. She was starting to get an understanding of the concepts, but she needs some more practice.

Physiology Tutoring review by Paul in Framingham, MA
The student and I worked hard to get through the mad rush of lectures her teacher gave this week. We covered more specific topics in the cardiac system regarding the autonomic nervous system's impact upon the heart and vasculature, the interactions between venous return and cardiac output, inotropy, chronotropy and how these changes impact cardiac output, the various baro and chemoreceptors that sense and adjust blood and cardiac variables, and the mechanisms and purpose of autoregulation. I was impressed with her understanding of several of the topics, as she was able to explain many of them without much correction or guidance. In order to solidify understanding, I do believe we will need to revisit many of these topics.
