Physics Tutoring review by Marie-Urlima in Newport News, VA
Today the student and I went over his syllabus for physics and discussed how the class was being taught. He did not like the way the class was structured. He also expressed that he is taking algebra 2 and physics concurrently, so he may struggle with some of the algebra II concepts. He began working on his assignment. The assignment covered graphs that were directly and inversely proportional as well as independent and dependent variables.

We reviewed concepts relating to graphing and unit conversions. We went through the unit review in preparation for the upcoming test. I made sure the student could explain concepts back to me and could interpret graphs appropriately. Following this we also talked briefly about SI units and understanding how to apply unit conversion to go from SI units to specific units.

Physics Tutoring review by Garrett in Newport News, VA
The student and I covered significant figures, rounding, scientific notation, measurement, basic trigonometry definitions, the Pythagorean theorem, and vectors in preparation for his physics test on Tuesday. He was positive and focused throughout the session. He was much more caught up on the material than he was for his pre-calculus quiz last week. He was successfully solving practice problems on his own in each of the areas of review by the time I left.

Physics Tutoring review by Matjaz in Newport News, VA
Today we solved or checked 7 problems involving Newton's second law: forces, pulleys, tension forces, normal forces. Strategies involved writing two equations for the Newton's law for the direction parallel to the incline and perpendicular to the incline. Then realizing that acceleration is the same for all objects, then writing Newton's laws for each object individually for both x and y direction. The student is very quick in calculating the quantities necessary and is keeping ahead of the course's schedule.
