Organic Chemistry Tutoring review by Rohan in Smyrna, GA
Today, the student and I went over SN1/SN2/E1/E2 in detail both through his textbook and through external resources that I have sent him. We went over some mechanism problems and cleared up some issues and misunderstanding that he was having. We went through Chapter 6 and 7 in his textbook together and practiced mechanism problems.

Today, we went over some problems from the student's practice exams. The questions covered nomenclature (the ability to name a compound and the ability to draw the compound from the given name), the stability of chair conformations, and the different products yielded by E1 and E2 mechanisms. Like our previous sessions, the student was attentive and engaged. He asked questions and actively participated in the problems. Overall, I believe the session went well!

Organic Chemistry Tutoring review by Keith in Smyrna, GA
We discussed the student's last test and a problem set. We worked problems that involved selecting reagents for a transformation taking into account stereochemistry and regiochemistry. We talked about ozonolysis reactions and how to identify the products. We talked about stereochemistry for hydrogenation reactions and the addition of bromine and HBr. We discussed SN1 and SN2 reactions and the differences for each reaction and the conditions that favor each type of mechanism. The student is struggling with memorizing reactions and reagents and mechanisms. I suggested flashcards to help memorize reactions and a model set to help with reaction stereochemistry. She seemed to have a better understanding of the concepts as we went through the material.

Organic Chemistry Tutoring review by Ammar in Smyrna, GA
We finished reviewing for the take-home quiz by completely going over the mechanism of malate oxidation using NAD+. Then we started going over the homework on the citric cycle as well as electron transport. We only had one more problem to over, which we will start on Monday. The student needs to go over the mechanism problem on her own so that it sinks in.
