Organic Chemistry Tutoring review by Tiani in Bellevue, NE
We covered the problems he got wrong on his past exam for Sn1 and Sn2 and elimination reactions. We also started reviewing for his final coming up next week with naming of functional groups, and stereochemistry and different conformations. He was struggling with remembering some of the naming and intermediates in his mechanism reactions on his exam. He was appreciative of the material covered. His exam is next Monday, so we will have 3 more sessions before then to cover everything and help him prepare for his final.

Organic Chemistry Tutoring review by Julie in Bellevue, NE
The student and I began this session by going through a major mechanism and by talking through the curved arrow mechanism and electron flow. After this, we went through her class notes, page by page, making sure she understood each mechanism and how to use each reagent. Seeing as we had a lot of notes to go through - this took us to just about 2 hours! During the remaining time we worked on some practice problems that her professor sent. I was extremely excited to notice that she demonstrated a marked improvement on both her understanding of the material and her performance! While initially I was ambivalent about the amount of time she spent between sessions on her orgo work, by the end of the day it seemed like most of it had come back to her and she seemed much more comfortable and confident in the material.
