Microbiology Tutoring review by Roger in Denton, TX
We reviewed fluids and heat transfer. We worked through a homework assignment covering Archimedes' Principle, continuity, Torricelli's Law, etc., as well as heat transfer through conduction. We also previewed the next chapter covering ideal gases.

Microbiology Tutoring review by Sean in Denton, TX
Today we covered chapter 14 in the student's textbook, which is on Mendel and basic genetic inheritance. We discussed the experiments that Mendel performed on pea plants in order to develop the law of independent assortment and the law of segregation, covered the use of Punnett squares and the rules of probability to determine the chance of offspring from a cross having a particular phenotype or genotype, went over extensions to Mendelian genetics (e.g., pleiotropy, codominance, incomplete dominance, multiple alleles, epistasis, polygenic inheritance, and the effects of the environment of phenotype), and discussed pedigrees and genetic disorders in humans. He also had a worksheet to complete, which I helped him work through at the end of the session.

Microbiology Tutoring review by Marta in Denton, TX
After a brief introduction we started the tutoring session from the photosynthesis, using the material provided by the professor. To begin, we went through the main differences between animal cells and plant cells. Next, we spent more time on the structure and function of the chloroplasts, as the central point of the photosynthetic reactions. From here till the end of our session, we analyzed the path of the electron transfer within the chloroplasts, upon light excitation. We analyzed the first part of the reactions, light dependent, followed by the second series of reactions, light independent, that produce carbohydrates and O2. There was great interaction with the student and he has great potential to master these concepts.

Microbiology Tutoring review by Srdjan in Denton, TX
The student started a section on circular motion and centripetal force. We did problems and talked about conceptual issues. We also revisited a previous section on friction. I also showed him how to solve physics formulas for unknown quantities and check formulas using dimensional analysis. One problem for circular motion required knowledge of Newton's gravitational force formula (F=GMm/r^2), which he did not remember so I told him to revisit gravity.

Microbiology Tutoring review by Jesse in Denton, TX
Today, the student and I went over gravitational forces and fields and centripetal motions. Her understanding of the material was very strong coming into the session today, though there were a couple of barriers in understanding that we were able to conquer. Unit analysis showed that N/kg = m/s^2. She says she has a continuing test over the next 2 days of her physics class.
