Session Summaries by Math Tutors

Math Tutoring review by Austin in San Rafael, CA
The student and I continued to go over optimization of functions. We worked through her homework which she was able to complete without much issue. Once we finished that, we still had a bit of time so I gave her a preview of the next section. We worked through a few problems (which are just making use of the same machinery over and over) and I think she is well set up for learning the same subject in class.

This week the student and I reviewed and discussed solving and checking equations. After explanations and a few examples he was able to gain more confidence on the matter. At the end of the session I advised him to complete a few more problems to solidify his mastery of the topic. Overall productive session.

Math Tutoring review by Chelsey in San Rafael, CA
The student and I went over more series (root and ratio), which he seems to have a pretty good grasp on. He has a test on Monday, so we looked over some example problems the professor said would be like the test. We matched the type of series to each problem, and started to go through how to solve them. I also helped quiz him on the types of series, their convergence point, hints on how to identify them, etc. I am going to find him more examples to help him study for Monday.

Math Tutoring review by Herbert in San Rafael, CA
We went over his homework on deciding decimals and worked on keeping his numbers lined up. After we finished his homework we went back and reviewed multiplying, adding, and subtracting decimals. We worked on making sure he shows his work and on keeping the work space organized. Then I started to make review questions for him to work on with fractions using all operations. He was very motivated today, and he put in good effort in showing his work and working on keeping his numbers lined up. Today was a very productive session.
