Math Tutoring review by Christopher in San Marcos, CA
We reviewed Arc Length, Euler's Method and Exponential (population) problems. Student already had skill in solving the problems, so I covered the derivation of the process that leads to the equations, in order to encourage a faster response in going from the problem to the equation. After the session, I encouraged her to practice just a few more problems in preparation for her test on these problems this week.

Tonight student and I covered volume between curves, which is the new topic that his class will be covering. We discussed the relationships between the radii and the set up of the integrals, along with the idea behind the volume of the objects themselves. We plan to continue discussing this topic on Wednesday, after his derivative/integral test involving natural log, which he has on Monday.

Math Tutoring review by Andrew in San Marcos, CA
Student was assigned more problems from the same section as the week prior, continuing her exploration of inequalities. The problems were a bit more complex and required slightly more advanced applications of algebra (e.g. introduction of parenthetical quantities and the most efficient way to solve them). She has no trouble solving inequalities or graphing them on a number line. The most helpful task we were able to accomplish was deciphering the similarities and differences of two problems that had identical numbers, operations and variables. She had to determine not only how our methods for solving these two statements were very similar, but also how very different the solution sets were for both. Using a number line graph to illustrate the difference in their solution sets is a very useful practice and I encouraged her to use that method if presented a problem of this nature in the future.

Math Tutoring review by Kameco in San Marcos, CA
The student and I went over the multiplication facts from 2 to 12. After practicing the basic facts we were able to extend that knowledge to higher facts as well as division. We also talked about using the multiplication facts to easily divide dividends that are multiples of 10.
