The student and I went over trig identities and then we focused on vectors. We went over the dot product and finding the length of a vector. We then worked several problems involving navigation and the use of the law of sines and the law of cosines.

The student and I are almost at the end of his required Summer homework. We worked a lot with sequences and patterns, and there were many problems that required a good amount of mental math. I went over some strategies with the student to break down mental math problems into easier steps. I noticed several of the pattern problems use some of the same concepts that programs did in a coding class I took, and it's helpful to show him parallels between math class and coding.

Today we focused on an introduction to limits. We discussed the ways to solve limits (substitution, graphing, using points, and analytically). He worked on his homework as practice. Discussed continuity and greatest integers in relation to determining limits.

Today we read out loud from the student's workbook. He was very confident and strong in his reading skills. We then worked on math. His homework focused on how to write numbers in expanded and standard form, as well as marking 'the place' of a number (i.e.. the tens place, hundreds place, thousands place, etc.).
