LSAT Tutoring review by Ryan in Santa Rosa, CA
The student and I continued to focus on the logic games section of the test ,as that is where he has been struggling the most. He has a better understanding of how to attack these question types, but is struggling with pacing and harder deductions. At times he is rushing himself too much, which leads to small errors and missed deductions. I walked him through a large number of games, focusing on pacing and illustrating the deductions he needed to make when necessary. Towards the end of the session his accuracy and pacing improved.

The student and I spent the entirety of our session today working on analyzing passages for the RC section. She has previously identified this as a main challenge, and I wanted to see how she worked on this section of the test. She completed a diagnostic about 15 minutes faster than I expected her to, and revealed that she was not using direct quotes/research from the text to supply her answer choices. We spent the remainder of the session working on this skill. For extra practice, she will be taking PT 66 and we will review this together on Monday.

LSAT Tutoring review by Julian in Santa Rosa, CA
The student and I started with a rundown of his strengths and weaknesses. Then, we went into an introduction to the logical approach. I taught him about the differences between arguments and sets of facts, how to find conclusions and premises, and what are good arguments and bad arguments. We then proceeded to talk about formal logic and sufficient and necessary conditions. We ended with transitive conclusions. Next session, we will diagram actual LSAT problems, identify good arguments, learn about quantitative statements, and possibly have an introduction to logic games.

The student and I talked through his law school plan, how admissions works, and looked at each section of the LSAT. We talked about both content and strategy for each section. He asked insightful questions. He's going to take a sample LSAT so we can assess his skills together and use that test as a jumping-off point for our next session.

LSAT Tutoring review by Rachel in Santa Rosa, CA
We did mixed math review, focused mostly on questions related to rates. The student is consistently able to figure out what a question is asking and assess what information she has available. I'll send her a few more rate questions tonight to focus on, but other than that, she has a really strong basis with math. Next time we'll do mixed verbal review.

We finished going over the Plugging In technique, including hidden plug ins and plugging in the answer choices. For homework, the student is to download and take an official computer based practice test, sticking to the time limits. He also needs to learn the first 30 vocabulary words in the "Top 100" list - looking them up for more complete context on Google. Finally, he is to read through the Math Fundamentals chapter and flag any areas he wants to work on more.
