How can a LSAT tutor help you?

You've been preparing your whole life for law school. Now, it's time to take the Law School Admission Test, also known as the LSAT, and you're worried you won't get the score you need to pursue acceptance into the law school of your dreams. Some people take great comfort in the fact that there is no passing or failing grade. It's scored between 120 to 180, with 150 being the average score. However, if your goal is to attend one of the nation's top 25 schools of law, you need to aim for a score of 160 or better. One of the great ways to prepare yourself to score that high is to connect with a tutor who specializes in the LSAT. Students seeking LSAT tutoring in Sacramento may get assistance in locating an independent tutor from Varsity Tutors.

The LSAT is so important that many laws schools give its score much more weight than your GPA. That's because your GPA is an average of your overall skills in different programs and subjects from different schools. Contrarily, the LSAT focuses on five areas: Reading Comprehension, Analytical Reasoning, an Experimental Section, Logical Reasoning, and the Essay section. A quality tutor may determine which of these areas of the LSAT are your weakest points. Then, your tutor may draft a customized plan to try to help you grasp the concepts of these areas, increasing your chances of scoring high on the overall test. Varsity Tutors may find you a tutor in Sacramento who may take all of your LSAT goals into account to create an individualized study plan just for you.

LSAT Tutoring review by Ryan in Sacramento, CA
The student and I went over his last practice test and his five points away from his target score. I taught his some time management strategies in logic games and focused on how he could get 3/4 games done accurately to get his target score. We also went over strategies for logical reasoning questions.

LSAT Tutoring review by Kathryn in Sacramento, CA
This session the student and I focused all our time on logical reasoning. We started with basics just to make sure the she had a good foundation for answering these types of questions. We went over premises vs. conclusions vs. assumptions vs. inferences and how to pull these out of stimuli and create them on your own. She understood these concepts fairly well, so we quickly moved on to focusing on the types of questions that were giving her trouble: namely flaw in the reasoning and parallel reasoning. We went over method of reasoning questions first because the foundation for both of the others lies in this type. I then gave her all of the different possible types of flaws that a stimulus can have, and we worked on several flaw questions. She was doing much better with these types after our discussion. We then did the same thing with parallel reasoning.

LSAT Tutoring review by Paul in Sacramento, CA
The student took another practice LSAT this week and did poorly on it. We spent the first half of the session going over the games and arguments from the test, then worked on an arguments section together for almost all of the remainder of our time. I assigned Thomas an untimed practice LSAT to see how much of his errors are because of the time limit on the sections.

Student 1, 2, and I went over the practice lsat they did last time. Logical reasoning is their weakest section. I gave them tips for the assumption questions, which they both seem to have the most trouble with. We also went over logic games and discussed ways to set up the games effectively.

LSAT Tutoring review by Brett in Sacramento, CA
I met with the student for approximately two hours. We went over the games section again. She has decided she would be more comfortable if she took the test in December rather than October. This will give us more time and we wont feel rushed. She is making progress in the games but needs more repetition in order to get more comfortable. Next time I will have her do all the work and describe her thought processes and diagramming along the way.
