Session Summaries by LSAT Tutors

LSAT Tutoring review by Carl in Concord, NC
Today was my second meeting with the student. She'd recently completed a practice exam, and we used that to base our discussion of the test upon. We primarily covered the different types of Logical Reasoning questions and how to quickly identify them, and then we began discussing the different methods appropriate to each. We were able to work a few questions, demonstrating how to attack Inference and Strengthen questions. Before our next session, she is going to finish reviewing her past practice test, and then do another one and blind review it.

We reviewed Chapters 5-6 of the Logic Games prep book and did all the diagramming from the games in those chapters. We also diagrammed additional games from prior LSATs. The student's comprehension is very good. Her speed and understanding of the concepts is improving very well. Homework includes to take a timed LSAT so we can review both the games and the logical reasoning.

LSAT Tutoring review by Aaron in Concord, NC
We went over games for this session. It's very important to not forget the rules, not jump straight to the answer choices after reading the question, and make inferences early. In grouping games, it's often very helpful to think of a few possibilities that can happen, especially with conditional rules. This strategy is less helpful on linear games. We also found a perfect game that illustrated Mastering the Scenarios.

LSAT Tutoring review by Erica in Concord, NC
We focused mostly on arguments this session, specifically identifying and practicing common LSAT flaws. As homework, the student should take one full, timed practice test, and then use the Arguments sections of a different practice test to identify Flaw, Inference, and Parallel Reasoning questions. Before answering the question, she should identify the flaw.

LSAT Tutoring review by David in Concord, NC
Our change in approach to Logical Reasoning really seems to be paying off. With the paced approach, the student got 15 questions correct on a timed section, and on several of the questions that he answered incorrectly, he nearly selected the correct answer. We went over a few of the questions that he had trouble on and also talked about approaches to unconventional Logic Games (like circular sequencing games) before discussing general test-week strategies. He feels ready to attack the test, and I concur - he's in a good place for this Saturday's test. I look forward to hearing about his results.

LSAT Tutoring review by Ryan in Concord, NC
The student and I spent most of the time working on logic games. Once I was able to walk her through the diagram for each game, she did fairly well at answering the questions. We talked about ways to make a clearer sketch and understand the rules better. At the end, we also worked on some logical reasoning questions where she performed better.
