Languages Tutoring review by Hannah in North Bay, CA
To begin our session, the student and I reviewed the conjugation chart for present tense and I introduced the future, imperfect, and aorist tenses. I explained how both the present and imperfect tenses are built on a Greek verb’s first principle part, how the future tense is built on the second principle part, and how the aorist tense is built on the third principle part. Then I asked him to write out conjugation charts for the present, future, imperfect, and aorist tenses. We verbally recited the conjugation charts until he could recite each chart from memory. Then I asked him to write the conjugation charts for each tense from memory. He did very well on this exercise and should be prepared for his next quiz. We spent the rest of our session reviewing articles and translating three Greek sentences. First I asked the student to write out declension charts for the masculine, feminine, and neuter definite articles. Then I explained how articles must match the noun they modify in case, number, and gender. Translating sentences together helped him review Greek articles and put into practice what he’s learned about nouns and verbs.
