Session Summaries by Languages Tutors

Languages Tutoring review by Amelia in New Haven, CT
We went over his project for his statistics course, I got a feel for his grade in the class and the performance necessary for him to pass. He showed me his rough draft and we wrote an outline of how he needed to change the draft writing portions in order to gain all the points on individual sections. His goal was to send me the essay revised sometime before the next session and talk to the professor in order to get a new data set that wasn't corrupted.

The student and I worked further through 9.1 and 9.2 for his quiz tomorrow. He told me he may need additional help with his stats material as well. I went through the steps he needed for the different types of problems in the sections.

The student worked on simple subtraction problems. She is also working on taking information and putting in a plot chart and then writing what she found and understood about the information and is coming along with this concept. We worked on her 12 multiplication facts and reviewed her 2-11 multiplication facts. She is really doing well with her multiplication facts. We will continue to review in order to become more fluent with them.

Languages Tutoring review by Benjamin in New Haven, CT
The student had already taken a practice English and math test, so we began by focusing on the questions that she got wrong on both of those. I reviewed the mechanics or relevant formulas as we went through so that she would be able to answer any question testing similar skills on the actual test. She then had time to begin a science section. I gave her a model for how to read quickly through the experiments to be familiar with the location of the data to maximize time for questions and minimize time searching for answers. She did not finish, so I left that with tips for taking notes on varying viewpoints passages for the student to do on her own. She will also complete another math section and possibly an English one to go over during our next session.

Languages Tutoring review by Olivia in New Haven, CT
Student 1 is starting binomials in math, so we reviewed most of the chapter that he will be covering this week. I also quizzed him on his science notes and he is doing well with simple machines. Student 2 has a math test this Wednesday. She had a homework assignment that I timed her on, and she took is as if it were a test. She only made two mistakes, and they were simple errors. She knew all the material well. Her ability to mentally recheck her work has improved and is reflected in her scores. She is going to review her vocabulary with her flashcards before the test. She is utilizing the tips that I have taught her, and they are helping her a lot.

Languages Tutoring review by Letizia in New Haven, CT
The session went very well. She had three different exercises dealing with direct and indirect object pronouns. We did them, and I explained the difference between the two of them. We also did more practice on the indirect because she has a quiz tomorrow on them. She is prepared.
