How can a tutor help your child master the ISEE?

Private schools in your area are looking for talented, bright, and promising students like yours to fill their seats and be a valued part of their learning community. Unfortunately, they receive thousands of applications and cannot interview each and every applicant to give them the shot that they might deserve. They use the Independent School Entrance Exam, or ISEE, to weed through the piles and focus their attentions on the cream of the applicant crop. Your child's chances of being admitted start with an impressive score on the ISEE. Are they ready?

Varsity Tutors can connect you with a skilled ISEE in Vista, CA, who will lead your child on the path to success in their test preparation. Your tutor will assess your student's current abilities, identify their strengths on which to capitalize, and root out their weaknesses and areas in need of work. They will customize a learning plan to your child's individual needs and goals, working with them at their own pace as well as at the pace required to be as ready as possible on test day. Whether they have years or only weeks to prepare, their private ISEE tutor in Vista will make the most of the time allotted.

ISEE Tutoring review by Ishita in Vista, CA
Today was our first meeting, and it was just a general overview of the test. He's a pretty bright kid, and is more going to need review of the math concepts and some vocabulary help than anything else. We worked off the ISEE prep guide, running through some general practice problems in each section and getting a feel for the format of the test.

ISEE Tutoring review by Melissa in Vista, CA
The parent and I spent some time discussing the student's SSAT test scores and what to focus on for his upcoming ISEE. He felt like he would prefer to spend some time on reading comprehension (the area where he could improve the most) and then focus on math for the next session before his test. I had a practice ISEE that I timed him for the standard amount of time. Then we completed the other two passages in that manner.

ISEE Tutoring review by Gus in Vista, CA
During this session, we reviewed the first verbal section and continued to work through the first math section. We then discussed the types of questions in the second verbal section. The student took the practice test and we talked about his results. Overall, his preparedness for the verbal sections is quite good, so I have focused on teaching him strategies for answer questions containing words or concepts with which he is unfamiliar.

ISEE Tutoring review by Kevin in Vista, CA
I met the student today for the first time and we talked about her goals in taking the exam at the end of October. We reviewed the format of the test and she told me she's most concerned about reading comprehension. We dove right in from there and started reviewed some strategies and doing some example problems from the exam booklet and her review book. We then switched gears and did some Math.

ISEE Tutoring review by Scott in Vista, CA
I first helped the student to brainstorm for an application essay he had to write. We then went over a math practice test he took on the tutoring website. He did well except for the set theory questions, which I will review again next session.

ISEE Tutoring review by Jozef Engel in Vista, CA
I had a chance to look at the student's second practice test. She did better in writing. We began today by reading two sample essays, and then her own essay. I had her try to rewrite the introduction to be more engaging, and I gave her tips on how to do that in the future. We then corrected her essay together (subject/ verb, verb tense, etc.). She will write two practice essays for tomorrow. On the reading section of her test, she had trouble on one reading passage, so we looked at it. I had her reread the passage and take notes. Then, we looked at the questions she got wrong, and she was able to get 5/7 right (which would have improved her score a lot). I gave her three passages to read for tomorrow, and reiterated that she should write on the passages to practice active reading. For the rest of the hour, we worked on vocab and idioms.
