How can a tutor help your child master the ISEE?

The Independent School Entrance Examination, or ISEE, is a standardized test utilized by competitive schools. Your student might be aiming for admission into a specialized elementary, middle, or high school, but the ISEE is a stepping stone that must definitely be understood first. Whether taking the lower, middle, or upper level exam, your son or daughter must understand their verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, reading comprehension, and math skills ahead of time. Varsity Tutors' educational directors in Glendale, CA, could locate an ISEE tutor, who could help your child meet their goals and excel on their exam. A tutor saves time because they'll focus on the exact subjects and concepts of concern.

The time span of every test alone can challenge your student. They could have not faced such a lengthy exam, which could test their nerves, patience, and stamina. A tutor can likely help them with any subject covered, from synonyms and sentence completion to numbers and operations, algebra, and geometry. The ISEE includes reading comprehension, along with this your student would have to be completely on level with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and probability. Contact our educational directors in Glendale today to obtain ISEE tutors to try to help your student address all their problem areas. An individual tutor can address all of your child's weaknesses through targeted, personalized lesson plans, managed through a teaching method that works with your student's learning style.

Session Summaries by ISEE Tutors

ISEE Tutoring review by Gretchen in Glendale, CA
We had an extra long session of vocabulary billiards. The student did GREAT! We spent some time reviewing math concepts--area, perimeter, simple pre-algebra, simple probability. We finished up with a reading comprehension exercise. He got all the answers right.

ISEE Tutoring review by Michael in Glendale, CA
I started working with the student and we reviewed order of operations before moving onto exponents. I recommended that he work to memorize the multiplication facts as it will make things faster for him. We then worked on percents, which he seems to understand.

ISEE Tutoring review by Carolyn in Glendale, CA
In our first session last week, the student and I went over some of the pre-built math questions. In our second session, we went over more math questions, and some of the verbal reasoning questions. She has very good instincts with math. She tends to second guess herself, though. She did very well with many of the verbal reasoning questions. The fill-in-the-blank questions weren't much of a problem for her.

ISEE Tutoring review by Claudia in Glendale, CA
The student and I started going through the practice problems covering the easiest skill level of each concept before moving on to the next one. We got through algebra, data analysis and probability, and geometry today. After we finish the easy levels, we'll move up to the harder ones. I think this is a good way to make sure that the student knows as much as he can know, but isn't stretching him too far. I think we'll focus on math much more than verbal, just because it'll be much easier to increase math skills in the amount of time we have than vocabulary, which is always the determining factor for verbal.

ISEE Tutoring review by Chloe in Glendale, CA
I continue to work in informational reading passages with student. We also did an actual passage today from a primary exam. For the audio comprehension portion, it was a voice other than mine reading it. I want her to get used to this. She got 100 of the questions correct! For math, I'm making a huge deal out of drawing out every single question, and she's getting good at it. We are still working on writing. She is good at answer the who, what, when, where, and why of pictures, but I'm working with her to use the picture to tell a story in addition to answering those questions. I've been giving her extremely tough reading passages (around 7th grade reading level) to really push her, and she's been doing great. We continue to practice the trickier math concepts, but she's doing wonderful.

ISEE Tutoring review by Corbin in Glendale, CA
We focused on taking a practice test on the Math and Quantitative Reasoning sections. The student did exceptionally well on both sections but had a little difficulty with the algebra and geometry problems. While going over the problems she missed, she caught on very quickly as to how to solve the algebra problems as well as some of the geometry problems.
