A whole number is a prime number with exactly two integral divisors: $1$ and itself. A composite number has more than two divisors.

Important Notes

The number $1$ is neither prime nor composite.
The number $2$ is the only even prime number.
Any number greater than $2$ that is even is not prime.
Numbers ending in $0$ or $5$ (except $5$ itself) are not prime.
Composite numbers have more than two factors.
