I've really enjoyed my experience with VT. I was feeling very discouraged about taking the GRE again and I wanted to try and boost my score. I think learning from a person is so much better than a book! I feel so much more prepared and I've been telling people about it as well!

— Elisabeth

We found VT to be incredibly well qualified and were able to get 2 different people for the type of studying my son needed for his GRE studies. They were able to tailor the teaching structure one on one to his needs. He had excellent results, and has since been accepted to grad school.

Session Summaries by GRE Tutors

GRE Tutoring review by Gerard in Vancouver, WA
In this session, the student and I worked on some practice math questions and a few practice vocabulary questions. She did significantly better in this session, and I think that her renewed effort to study on her own is showing. She remembered several of the formulas and concepts we reviewed and was able to apply them in new problems. We will continue with a review of some essential GRE concepts in the next session.

Today, we had our last session before the student takes the GRE on Thursday. We reviewed some final concepts that he wanted to clarify, and we went over some of the practice problems that he'd worked on since our last meeting. I think he is well-prepared and I wish him lots of luck!

GRE Tutoring review by Georgia in Vancouver, WA
This evening, the student did a really good job with the test material, as some of it differed considerably from the practice questions. She demonstrated good adaptation skills from previous problems to new problems, recognizing the process necessary to solve the problem, and then solving it. Her test is in a few days. Keep up the good work!

GRE Tutoring review by Kelly in Vancouver, WA
During my first session with this student, we went over practice sets I sent her and in doing so, identified problem areas where we need to focus our efforts. We realized that she is consistently having trouble with certain subjects, rather than general issues. To address these subjects (counting, probability, word problems, and statistics), I will send her problem sets for targeted practice as well as sample test questions for extra practice.

GRE Tutoring review by Carolina in Vancouver, WA
The student has a week until the exam and is feeling confident about the material. He only missed 2 on the most recent practice set, which is within the range he is aiming for. The timing is getting better and he has 3-8 minutes to spare each time. We worked through a practice set that I brought, with a focus on the weird symbol functions, some coordinate planes, and some general math logic. He then did another timed practice set. He was quick to find his mistakes as we reviewed. I asked him to finish reviewing the questions he got wrong on that set and to do another practice set before we meet on Sunday.

GRE Tutoring review by Jesse in Vancouver, WA
We met for the last time as the student is taking her exam next week. She had recently taken a practice test, so we were able to focus on the more difficult questions - both the ones she got right and wrong. She was able to reinforce old ideas as well as pick up a few new concepts that might help her steal some of the harder questions. She has been delightful to work with, and I hope she gets the score she needs to move on.
