I've really enjoyed my experience with VT. I was feeling very discouraged about taking the GRE again and I wanted to try and boost my score. I think learning from a person is so much better than a book! I feel so much more prepared and I've been telling people about it as well!

We found VT to be incredibly well qualified and were able to get 2 different people for the type of studying my son needed for his GRE studies. They were able to tailor the teaching structure one on one to his needs. He had excellent results, and has since been accepted to grad school.

GRE Tutoring review by Matthew in Alexandria, VA
We spent a good deal of time going over the fraction and algebra problems assigned to the student. There was still some work to be done on these topics. Following this, I gave her a talk about inequalities, and we worked through a number of problems. I assigned the inequalities section, reassigned the unfinished algebra problems, the unfinished fraction problems, and 50 problems from each of the sentence equivalence/completion sections.

GRE Tutoring review by Andrea in Alexandria, VA
Today showed a lot of progress, especially in the verbal section! We worked through some of those tricky triple threats in the verbal section - and tried skipping over the middle answer to fill in the last one first. This was very successful! We also looked at a number of different math concepts- including data interpretation and some scientific notation. Also remember- if you're doing the Pythagorean Theorem, stop! It is really unlikely that this is the right choice. For next week we left with a number of different techniques to try for the homework including answering all the 'no-math' questions first in the quantitative comparisons, and trying to apply new successful techniques to the verbal sections!

GRE Tutoring review by Alice in Alexandria, VA
This was our last session. The student has much improved on vocab. I think he is in a very good spot for text completion and sentence equivalences. He just needs to make sure he keeps studying vocab right up until his test date. We went over some essays he had written. I urged him to work on incorporating his new vocab into his essays. His essay structure, flow, and organization has much improved. His intros and conclusions are much better at previewing and closing his essays.

GRE Tutoring review by Forrest in Alexandria, VA
We went over the differences between combinations and permutations and how to use their respective formulas as well as practice problems. We reviewed inequalities and did a number of practice questions. I also emphasized the importance of staying calm when looking at a question and formulating a game plan before diving in.
