GMAT Tutoring review by Royanne in Richardson, TX
The student and I worked on grammar and writing questions, and math problems from the website. She is going to do a simulation test before we meet next week, so we can make a guesstimate of what her score might be now. She is always nice to work with.

GMAT Tutoring review by Annastasia in Richardson, TX
The student and I worked on plot in a story. He did much better with this concept than in past experiences. I also assessed his reading level, and found that his comprehension of the text has grown tremendously. He is able to answer open-ended questions with much more ease and accuracy than during his first assessment at the start of the summer. Yay! We also worked on ordering and comparing, decimals, fractions, and mixed numbers. He is really becoming more accurate with this skill, as well. I noticed that the tendency to rush through math is slowing, and that he was willing to use the strategies that he saw me model without prompting. Yay!

GMAT Tutoring review by Paul in Richardson, TX
The student wanted to practice passages relating to sociology concepts, so we began with two passages on immigration, education, and how they relate to social stratification and self-concept. She performed well on these, yet we still were able to expose a couple of concepts and terms she was unfamiliar with. We then worked a passage on bacteria, the immune response and vaccinations, helping her gain a new understanding on a number of biochemistry concepts. We then worked through a number of organic chemistry passages, focusing on reaction mechanisms. After this, we dove into more CARS practice, working through passages in the arts and philosophy. We will meet in one week to review her attempt at her first practice test.

Today we reviewed buoyancy and density questions from our last session and did some new ones as well. We then went through some new pressure questions and tried to hammer down these concepts. We also then planned for doing circuits, capacitors, and resistors for our next session. We will email over the week to figure out the next time for a session.

Today, the student and I focused on the regulation of biochemical pathways, particularly in regards to the role of specific enzymes involved in glycolysis, gluconeogenesis, the pentose phosphate pathway, and fatty acid synthesis. We also explored the clinical relevance of G6PD deficiency in regards to oxidative stress and the implication of this deficiency in cancer and in hemolytic anemia.
