We went over techniques for the reading section, which the student thought helped. She scored a 28 on her practice test and a 30 on the broken-up one we did during the section. I suggested she do a full-length practice test to get the reading section down while she's fatigued like she will be on the actual test. She's planning on doing that on the 23rd.

Finance Tutoring review by Andrew in Waltham, MA
We spent most of the session again learning and reviewing vocabulary. I returned multiple times to the vocabulary that Serena struggled with, and we worked on creating some mnemonics for harder to remember words. After she felt prepared for her vocabulary test, we spent the rest of the time working on the ablative of means and the ablative of manner, which they have been studying in class this week. I had the student produce a practice sentence with the ablative of means, using all vocabulary that she'd just gone over for this week's quiz. Then, I had her modify it slightly to use an ablative of manner instead, and we talked about what the difference between the two constructions is.

Finance Tutoring review by Amy in Waltham, MA
The student and I spent today working on her Pre-Calc homework.  She has a quiz tomorrow over factoring and finding the real zeros of polynomials as well as long and synthetic division of polynomials, so we went through her review sheet for that quiz.  We then worked on the next part of the chapter, which is rational expressions, because it will be on the final even though they won't have a test over it.  Specifically, we worked on finding holes, and the equations of horizontal and vertical asymptotes.

The student and I continued working on all aspects of the assessment test, particularly matrix work and pattern recognition. I also had him create some patterns for me. He is bright and continues to do well.

Finance Tutoring review by Elnora in Waltham, MA
The student and I completed the last five problems in the practice problem set. The first question required the calculation of the expected return of a stock using the CAPM, and then this return was used to calculate the price of a stock (and this was compared to the current market price). We also worked through a series of problems that also applied the CAPM in order to calculate expected stock returns, and related items such as a portfolio beta calculation. I also shared one more practice problem that involved the calculation of the expected return and standard deviation of two stocks and a portfolio. I am forwarding the completed Excel file with tabs to her by email.
