Receive personally tailored Finance lessons from exceptional tutors in a one-on-one setting. We help you connect with in-home and online tutoring that offers flexible scheduling and your choice of locations.

How can a Finance tutor help you?

There are many reasons to study finance. Concepts in finance help students to understand how the economy functions, personal finances (investment decisions, mortgages, credit cards, etc.), and the many applications finance has to business. The field encompasses a broad range of information and topics, and many students find themselves overwhelmed with the knowledge required to perform well in their finance course, especially when attempting to review the information alone. A private tutor could help to alleviate the stress associated with understanding and retaining advanced material by providing the kind of support that is difficult to replicate in a classroom environment. Varsity Tutors has educational directors in Medford, MA, who can match you with a finance tutor who might help improve your study skills as well as your finance knowledge.

Your tutor will meet with you one-on-one, in the comfort of your own home or another convenient location. Face-to-face online sessions are also available to those who are in need of a more flexible schedule. Varsity Tutors will hand-pick a finance tutor in Medford who can work with your individual learning style, abilities, and personality. The tutor will assess your strengths and weaknesses, and design a study plan that caters to your specific needs. You may have a solid grasp on financial investment, but struggle to understand the intricacies of using credit properly. Your instructor will make sure to focus on the topics that are giving you the most difficulty to make the best use of your time, unlike in a classroom setting, where students often find themselves reviewing topics they already understand.

Finance Tutoring review by Cyre in Medford, MA
The student didn't have anything new since coming home with one assignment on Thursday, so I got him brainstorming about his coming finals. The only books we had on hand to go from were Science and Social Studies, so we looked through his calendar and made a list of the subjects he had covered all semester in Science, as well as the chapters (6-12) he covered in Social Studies. He listed things that his teachers used as tools (for example, terms, study packs, and DRWB for science) and we drew up a contract of things he would do for exams. These include "study terms, read chapters, try my best" and the tutors would "reserve the right to give extra material", "re-explain any thing he didn't understand", "quiz him on terms". This is just a primer for getting into the reviewing mindset, but I think it necessary for every class he's taking, especially Math and Spanish.

Finance Tutoring review by Adam in Medford, MA
The student and I reviewed for her math exam today. I taught her about parent functions, composite functions, solving quadratics, and factoring. She was having trouble with all of these skills, but because it was a review we didn't have time to really get her excelling at any one of them. We'll continue building foundational algebra skills throughout the second semester.

We covered fraction operations, particularly determining which operation was demanded by a story problem. Ran over several problems, determined a rule that she found helpful. At the end, we covered decimal addition and subtraction briefly.

Finance Tutoring review by Joseph in Medford, MA
We covered the dividend discount model as it relates to stock pricing, including why investors pay for growth vs steady earnings, etc. We also reviewed the trade-off between risk and return as was illustrated in 2 study questions the student had involving stock options used to either mitigate risk or boost returns. I would like to spend more time making sure she fully grasps the trade-offs between taking more/less risk and earning returns (capital asset pricing model). The student has an excellent attitude, and she was certainly making progress since the first session. She will rework what we covered, and I am confident she will pick up even more.
