Elementary Math Tutoring review by Kimberly in Schaumburg, IL
The student and I met for the first time in over a month to work on her math homework. She has been studying word problems that require a table setup to organize and solve. We practiced making the tables and categorizing the problems into the different types of setups. She was able to complete the homework problems with few questions, and she checked her answers with me.

During this session, the student and I worked on making sure he was caught up in his math class. After having missed several days of school earlier this week, he was a little worried about knowing what was going on in class. After going over Monday's homework with some small refreshers, I quizzed him on material that will come in the next couple of sections. Since he worked through most of his math book over the summer, it was mostly just reminders. He had a good grasp of several classes worth of work by the end of the session.

Elementary Math Tutoring review by Cedric in Schaumburg, IL
We covered arithmetic and geometric series problem identification. In addition, we used functions to convey the relationship of given data sets. We worked on identifying exponential and linear functions. We explored problems that involved upper and lower quartiles, interquartile range, and median data. Plus, we reviewed histograms and dot plot analysis. Most of the work was done to prepare for the upcoming CDA exam. The student reviewed geometric sequence breakdown, and when given an example, she quickly remembered the approach to such problems.

Elementary Math Tutoring review by Cheyne Ian in Schaumburg, IL
The student completed everything that we had planned very well today. The book we read was more on his level, and he did not have to pause as often. He seems to be improving with his times table. He seemed very excited about volcanoes, and we watched some informational videos on them. The 5th grade level book looks good for him. It may be a little above his level, but I think it will be good for him to work ahead and push himself.
