The student was having trouble in finding the area of triangles whose vertexes are on a graph, so we reviewed the process of making them into quads and subtracting the area of the resulting mini triangles to get the measurement of the original. It was a new way of finding areas and she did well.

Elementary Math Tutoring review by Orkhan in Long Beach, CA
The student had a homework assigned to her that is due next week, so we did the portion that she was already taught by her professor. We did 6 problems on Triple Integrals, in rectangular, cylindrical and spherical coordinates. Overall, the problems were a good and accurate representation of the material, and she seemed to be comfortable with them.

Elementary Math Tutoring review by Cole in Long Beach, CA
The student started learning about ellipses, so we went over the basic formula and how to interpret it. We learned how to find the center, vertices, major and minor axes, and how to graph the ellipse. We also worked a little on how to find the foci; however, he has yet to go over that in class, so I just introduced him to the topic. We also spent more time working with parabolas since he didn't feel entirely comfortable. He had a little trouble converting equations into the standard form, so we did a number of example problems. Lastly, we spent some more time working on completing the square, since all of the topics can potentially include it.

Elementary Math Tutoring review by Kristen in Long Beach, CA
We went over the process for her to do the physics worksheet. I asked her what is her biggest problem in physics currently. The topic she is having issues with is the topic of the worksheet for her to do. We started going over circle and ellipse equations. We went over a worksheet she had for class, and left a few of each section blank for her to do on her own. She struggled with the concept of the foci. I tried to explain in a variety of ways. I am going to put together some more questions to go over on Sunday.
