How can Chemistry tutoring help you?

Chemistry is the science that studies the properties of matter and how substances interact. Chemistry is used in many careers that involve healthcare, research, and development. Many students who study a STEM-related field can reap the benefits of learning chemistry. Unfortunately, chemistry also requires students to memorize a number of difficult concepts, such as Avogadro's Law and the laws of thermodynamics. This could cause students to struggle if they're in a class taught by someone who doesn't make the course exciting and engaging. If you are falling behind in your chemistry course, you should think about contacting Varsity Tutors. We can help you find a professional chemistry tutor in Allen, TX, who can try to help you pursue your goals for the course.

Varsity Tutors is happy to assist you in finding an instructor to work with. An expert chemistry tutor in Allen can help you hone your skills and try to do well with the course. You could be in a position to learn chemistry in an interactive manner that isn't present in many classroom-based lessons. You can receive assistance as you work through problems regarding chemical reactions and molecular structure. You are able to even learn in a manner that prepares you for assessments and exams. Since private lessons give you a hands-on approach, you can take advantage of receiving important feedback and meaningful explanations that can help you better understand the material covered in each lesson.

Session Summaries by Chemistry Tutors

Chemistry Tutoring review by Abdul in Allen, TX
We reviewed orbitals and molecular orbitals for basic compounds. We also worked on Lewis dot structures and writing resonance forms. We then worked on establishing the most stable conformations of various chemical compounds based on their respective structures. The student was preparing for an exam he had the next morning and felt confident at the conclusion of the tutoring session.

Chemistry Tutoring review by Gina in Allen, TX
On Friday I met with the student to go over her first lessons in Chem 142. She likes this professor's teaching style much more than the last one and this first section is math based which is the student's specialty. Even though they have only covered the first half of the material on the test coming up next Thursday, the student and I went over the professor's old Test 1. His questioning style seems straight forward and even though the student hasn't been formally introduced to all of the topics (she has two more lessons on Monday and Tuesday) she did very well working through the old test questions. As we were going through Test 1, she remembered a few things she had questions about from the homework which we covered. The student is extremely bright and a hard worker and I think she'll get an A easily with a few review sessions along with lessons from this more experienced teacher.

Chemistry Tutoring review by Jennifer in Allen, TX
The student has an exam on Monday for Chapters 5, 6, and 7 covering covalent bonding, hybridization, VSEPR modeling, molecular orbital theory, stoichiometry/mass balancing, acid/bases. This is an accelerated summer course and there is a lot of information to learn in a short period of time. We reviewed covalent bonding (why it occurs, what it means for electron sharing, bond strength, and bond length) and Lewis structures. She practiced drawing Lewis structures of covalently bonded molecules. We then focused on balancing reaction equations, mass balancing, and theoretical yield. The student is going to complete one of her review worksheets before our next session.

Chemistry Tutoring review by Maureen in Allen, TX
The student and I continued to review chemical kinetics during this session. He seems fairly comfortable with rate laws, orders of reactions and half lives. We are a little ahead of the rest of the class so he's not quite as comfortable with the Arrhenius equation and reaction mechanisms. I think once he goes through those subjects in class and on his own, the concepts will solidify for him.

Chemistry Tutoring review by Zachary in Allen, TX
We did a broad overview of important chemical principles, and got a foundation for concepts to come. I gave the student some online resources to work on while he is gone, and we will try to delve into these ideas more deeply next month.

Chemistry Tutoring review by Lauren in Allen, TX
Today's lesson consisted of material pertaining to the student's PowerPoint covering acids and bases in solutions, the associated equations and determining the pH and pOH discussed. The student was able to show proficiency in performing calculations on his own. I suggested a new calculator that will provide up-to-date functions and ease of use. The student exhibited good understanding of the material. All of the student's questions were answered and in-depth rationale was provided. I will send practice questions to the student to be reviewed in our next lesson together. The student needs to focus on proper calculator technique. The student will continue to do examples and read on his own time in preparation for the final exam.
