Calculus Tutoring review by Joe in San Jose, CA
The student has an excellent grasp of calculus; specifically, her strength the algebra entailed in calculations. She wanted help slowing some of the progression down to get the concepts and work on her online homework. We went over the mean value theorem and the conceptual foundations of maxima, minima, and points of inflection. We also looked at how she can use the first and second derivatives of functions to detect these critical points and determine what their values imply. We worked through some of her online homework. She did extremely well. I asked her to give me a call or text if she has any specific questions.

There were some derivatives that were difficult to remember, but he did well with applications of the product and chain rule. We used homework problems as examples, and emphasized the methods for deciphering which differentiation techniques are appropriate to use. Prior tools such as properties of exponents and logs were emphasized.
