Calculus Tutoring review by Ahmad in Cary, NC
Today we did extra problems on implicit differentiation and related rates. We learned the applications of derivatives in real life. Specifically, we learned what it means to differentiate one variable with respect to another variable. For example dV/dt shows the change volume with respect to time. Student was able to grasp that dV/dt is different than dV/dr. Also, we did more problems with chain rule. Student needs to improve on identifying when chain rule should be applied. A general rule of thumb I stated was when a parenthesis was used, which would indicate it is a function within a function. He also needs to review quadratic formula and solving by factoring. Student was eager to learn the material.

We did some integration problems. We covered some inverse trig, partial fractions, and improper integrals. The student asked some very good questions about the details of the techniques we were using. He has a good enough grasp on the material to ask what would happen if something were altered in the problem.
