During this session, we went over the lecture that she missed on protein and enzymatic function. We also reviewed monosaccharides, disaccharides, and polysaccharides.

In this session, we concentrated on biology and algebra, as the student had a quiz and a test covering the subjects the following day. In algebra, we went over the most difficult examples from each section in the chapter to make sure he was prepared for the test. I also talked to him about test-taking strategies and how to avoid getting nervous. In biology, we reviewed Chapter 3, which included hypertonic/hypotonic solutions and facilitated diffusion and osmosis.

The student and I spent an hour working over how DNA replication works. Functions of DNA polymerase, topoisomerase, telomerase, helicase, leading lagging strands, Okazaki fragments etc. We then switched gears to editing his rough draft research paper that seriously needed help. We worked on organization primarily and spent some time on sentence structure.

Biology Tutoring review by Avideh in Sacramento, CA
For this session, we went over many concepts, diagrams, and vocabulary that had to do with chromosomes, dominant versus recessive traits, genotypes versus phenotypes, and other related topics. She also completed a few Punnett squares and dihybrid crosses I made for her. After an hour or so, the student had a great grasp on the vocabulary and concepts. At the end of the session she took two practice quizzes and got excellent scores! After our review, she was much more prepared for this test. I look forward to hearing back her grade. For the last 20 minutes of the session, we reviewed the concepts covered on her geometry homework and completed a few proofs.
