Session Summaries by Anatomy Tutors

Anatomy Tutoring review by Scott in Stamford, CT
She struggled with the idea of two-dimensional motion, which is difficult, so we ended up discussing vectors and components-the idea that projectile motion can be thought of as separate motions in the horizontal and vertical dimensions is essential to understanding the problems at hand. After completing the homework problems, she and I worked through some supplementary exercises and simulations. She does not so far know when she'll have a physics test, and hasn't yet received substantial feedback from her teacher.

This was my first session with the student. He has his first test in Physics in two weeks so we have two more session before this test. He has covered two chapters in we went over problems for the first two chapters. We looked at forces, static and kinetic friction forces. We worked on some problems that involved vectors and worked on those as well. We will continue with forces such as tension in the next session.

We covered projectile motion. I did hear back about one grade, it was a 95% on a test. I have no concerns from the session.

Anatomy Tutoring review by Pengxue in Stamford, CT
We covered Hooke's Law, buoyancy, force and tension, and free body diagrams. The student was struggling with drawing a free body diagram straight from a word problem, then applying appropriate equations to the diagrams. I left the student to continue looking over notes, and to continue the practice problems and exams the professor had given to the class.

Anatomy Tutoring review by Alana in Stamford, CT
We covered geometry and physics today. For geometry, the student was getting ready for a test and we practiced definitions and solved problems focusing on angles. She had no difficulty with anything that we covered in geometry. For physics, we worked on the "Big 4" kinematics formulas by working through her homework problems step by step. After a few problems, she was able to work through setting up the problem herself and even explain her reasoning to me. Overall, this was a great session and she was excellently prepared.

The student and I reviewed scientific notation, significant figures, reading graduated cylinders and triple beam balances. She absorbed the information very quickly by asking good questions and was able to do all the practice problems I gave her. She also picked up quickly how to read the graduated cylinder and the triple beam balance.
