Overall class went excellent. The student needed help on his homework packet for reaction kinetics and orders of reaction. I explained the concepts for the problem set we worked on including how to determine order of reaction, how to solve for the rate constant, how to graph data using Excel in order to determine rate laws. He was able to demonstrate his understanding of what we covered. However we didn't graph any data on Excel and the student was going to work on that and ask me via email if he needed extra help.

We began by covering concepts of momentum and impulse. We started by going over a few homework problems, She was very receptive to the material and interactively asked questions for clarification. We then went over a few conceptual topics such as the conservation of momentum and how Newton's third law ties into some problem. She did excellent with applying formulas to word problems. I suggested she look at any physics textbook she can access to understand in depth about the conceptual aspect of the topics discussed today. I also mentioned the possible use of online videos of demonstrations of these topics to help further her understanding.

Today, we started with my recommendation to her about some of the mistakes to avoid when solving equilibrium and kinetics problems. We solved some home work problems and also discussed acid-base theory. We discussed the concept of Arrhenius, Bronsted-Lowry and Lewis definition of acids and bases. We discussed how to determine the strength of acids and bases from dissociation constant. We discussed how to calculate pH, pKa, pkb, pKw and their relationship with each other. The student needs to master the application of acid base theory in calculating pH and other related parameters. Next week, we will continue the session about acid-base theory and solve some practice problems of kinetics, chemical equilibrium and acid-base theory.

Today, the student asked to go over the muscle origins, insertions, and actions. She feels this is where she needs the most review before the exam. We worked through the cards I made, looking up any terms that needed clarification. I also used Google Images to give pictorial support to the material and let her see the connections described on the cards. I had an idea and asked her if she thought it would be useful to have the origin, insertion, and action of each muscle on a single card. She thought this could be a good tool to use, and I agreed to create it before our Sunday session. I am also going to create a study guide differentiating some of the bone markings we keep seeing that represent places of attachment for muscles. They include condyle, fossa, tubercle, tuberosity and trochanter and can be a little confusing in their similarity.

Today, we covered signal transduction. I provided a mini-lecture on the subject and reinforced the material covered in the student's own lecture. I also provided her with nervous system questions for her to do tonight/tomorrow before we meet again on Sunday. She also provided me with her nervous system lecture notes, noting the portions she needs assistance with. I will review them tonight and create another lecture for Sunday. By the end of the session, I believe that she understood and had a much better mastery of the material. I asked for her to do her exam prep questions again, without looking at the notes, to gauge her understanding of the material. If she has any questions, she can definitely contact me, and I will get back to her as soon as I can. She is a great student. For Sunday, we will go over the nervous system and review both the excretory system and signal transduction again.
