Anatomy Tutoring review by Ron in Santa Rosa, CA
We continued going over physics in preparation for the upcoming final, specifically momentum, energy conservation, torque, and rotational motion. Again, we had to go over which formulas were the correct ones to use, but once they got practice with them, they picked up the concepts quickly. I think the first student was doing fine with most of the problems, and the second student needed a little more help with what formulas to use. There was a particularly long conservation of momentum problem that kind of threw him for a loop. I emphasized that the hardest problems would most likely be the ones that would be on the exam since they make you cover the entire spectrum of skills that they need to do physics, so they shouldn't be surprised that a question only asks for one final answer, but you need to solve 4-5 equations to get there. I did not leave them with extra practice, I believe that they have plenty to do on their own, and if they need more then they should go over the review sheet again to make sure that they have everything handled. We were able to review the extra credit assignments that they had been assigned, and I am fairly sure that they scored pretty high on them, so that should give them an extra boost going into the exam.

Anatomy Tutoring review by Isadora in Santa Rosa, CA
We spent the session proofreading and editing the student's paper on sustainability and potato chips. Generally, he is a very good worker, and mainly needs my help only to keep his thoughts straight and write them down clearly. He tends to jump around (attempting to work on multiple paragraphs at once), so I tried to get him to focus on one task at a time, and he eventually finished his paper. I think it turned out very well.

Anatomy Tutoring review by Angie in Santa Rosa, CA
We worked through all three sections today. In reading, we practiced with the fill-in-the-blank questions, and the passage-based questions. After going through strategies, the student has a better grasp on answering fill-in-the-blank problems. I assigned her to memorize vocabulary words (lists provided online) to improve her vocab list. These will help her improve her score in the problems that require knowledge of more difficult vocabulary. The student is fairly strong in the passage-based questions. She is able to answer the main idea questions with ease. She struggles a little more with questions that ask for the meaning of a word or phrase in the context of the sentence or passage. To help, we went over strategies to overcome this hurdle and we will practice more to make these questions come second-nature. In math we worked on a practice section from the college study guide. She is very quick in answering most of the problems. She has no trouble with algebra and solving algebraic equations. Today we went through a practice writing section and covered the grammar rules governing each question and what rule was being broken in each question. We will continue to go over the list of grammar rules present in the SAT, in future sections.

We covered diffusion, fluid mosaic models, tonicity and osmosis. The student's attitude was very positive and he was willing to learn. He asked great questions. I taught him to turn certain concepts into a narration to help him remember.
