Anatomy Tutoring review by Sundeep in Plano, TX
The student has an exam on Wednesday, so he wanted to go over his review sheet. We worked through the problems together, and I identified areas for improvement. He wants to meet again Tuesday evening to go over any weak areas before the exam.

Anatomy Tutoring review by Brandon in Plano, TX
We went over NMR, IR, and MS. We went over multiple practice problems involving NMR, after a quick explanation of the principles. The problems involved spin-spin coupling, translating a given spectrum into a molecular shape, and estimating the shifts and multiplicity of NMR peaks, given a molecular structure. We then briefly went over IR and MS, mostly just covering basic principles of when to use each. Overall, the student struggled a bit with spin-spin coupling, but by the end she was able to grasp the concepts very well.

During the session, I worked with the client on understanding separation techniques in the lab. First, we reviewed the basic steps of extraction. We then talked in detail about the theory behind various types of chromatography, such as TLC, column chromatography, and gas chromatography. I then explained distillation and the difference between simple and fractional distillation. We then summarized the different techniques by reviewing what each one is best used for. Lastly, I introduced fatty acids and their properties as an intro to biochemistry.

Anatomy Tutoring review by Stephanie in Plano, TX
The student and I reviewed reactions of alkenes and alkynes. She had her book with her so we were able to clarify a few things we had questions on from last session and do some practice. I left her with practice problems. She has a very good understanding of the mechanisms of these reactions. She should have a practice exam next session (her exam is on 3/10) so it will be important to work on translating the mechanisms to the test questions. We also began to review stereochemistry and chirality. We read through the steps for assigning R and S isomers and I was able to clarify her questions.

We worked on reagents and reactions involving ketones and aldehydes. The student seems to pick things up quickly, and I think I can help her make some connections so she can stand on her own two feet in the class.

Anatomy Tutoring review by Andrew in Plano, TX
We spent our session going over reaction mechanisms for aldehydes and ketones and also going through her professor's power point presentation slides. For each reaction, we went over the basics and then also spent time going through the mechanism and looking at the flow of electrons.
