We are in the home stretch now, preparing for the student's final. We spent the session first of all strategizing the type of question likely on the last exam, and second, going over the notes on phosphorescence, fluorescence, and electron paramagnetic and magnetic resonance. We'll work on outlining all the material.

Anatomy Tutoring review by Andrew in Philadelphia, PA
During this most recent session, the student and I went over one of his recent science class assignments on ecosystems and made sure to work through each question together carefully so he understood the content. Next, we continued going over one of the practice 8th grade science assessment tests and this time around, I had him complete more sections on his own. Overall, he seemed to have a good grasp of the content.

Anatomy Tutoring review by Lauren in Philadelphia, PA
The student and I met for our final session on Thursday. We spent the majority of the session reviewing science notes for her upcoming end-of-year science exam. We focused on evolution/natural selection, types of adaptations, and genetics. We briefly worked on her math worksheet, which focused again on graph/chart interpretation. I recommended that she continue to review her science notes on her own, to make sure she clearly understands everything we discussed. She also reported that she had won an award at school for Outstanding Math Performance, of which she was very proud! This was our final session.

Anatomy Tutoring review by Aaron in Philadelphia, PA
At this session, the student worked mainly on science. She had a science worksheet that we went through, and this worksheet dealt with the layers of Earth: crust, mantle, outer core, inner core. There were twelve facts listed, and the student had to match the correct fact with the correct layer of Earth. For example, fact - this layer is between five and twenty-five miles in thickness. The correct answer is: crust. We also read through the section in her science textbook that dealt with the layers of Earth. Also, the student had notes already taken in her notebook on the layers of the Earth, so she and I went over these. She did a good job in this session, especially with her reasoning skills - for example, "It can't be this layer because it's not hot enough; so it must be this layer."
