Session Summaries by Anatomy Tutors

Anatomy Tutoring review by Mikayla in Essex County, NJ
Last night we covered double and single replacement reactions and oxidation reactions. I think it was just covered in class that day and she seemed to struggle a little with it, but I think with some more practice she should have a better understanding. I made her a rule sheet to help her understand more.

Anatomy Tutoring review by Edwin in Essex County, NJ
We started with Lewis structures. We went into reviewing covalent bonds and pseudo-covalent (coordinate covalent) bonds. I organized a table that compared the two and gave her a few more practice diagrams to draw and she picked up pretty quickly. Then, we went into formal charges, which she passed with flying colors. Next, we started to go over the Reading Comprehension part of the aptitude test. I taught her to look for keywords in the passages and questions and everything becomes so much easier for her to do. Finally, we reviewed vocabulary. I wished her luck for next week's test.

We covered law orders, zero degree order, first degree order, second degree order. Application of equations for each case. Chemical behavior of molecules, catalysts, understanding of activation energy. We covered how to find the rate law from a given table, how to find the exponents of reactants. We tried to cover chapter 13 about reaction kinetics and its subjects. My goal was to give a general overview of the whole chapter to prepare the student for her test on Tuesday. Student was attentive and willing to learn all the material instructed.

Todays session with the student went really well. We focused on reviewing some of this homework, which involved physics and some nuclear chemistry. After he got warmed up he did very well. He needs to do more practice problems, and I'll be sending him some this weekend. He always has a great attitude and was a pleasure to work with. Most of my strategies that we worked on involved conservations of momentum.
