How can Anatomy tutoring help you succeed?

Anatomy is a fascinating subject to many. Some people take the course to satisfy their own curiosity of how the body works, but anatomy class may also be the precursor to many careers. Anatomy students may find themselves in education, clinical research, or in any type of medical field. The challenges include the vast amount of ground the subject covers as well as the complicated terms one comes across. One may need a tutor to spend more time on topics like the skeletal system, endocrine system, muscular or nervous system, or lymphatic system. If you're looking for the right instructor, Varsity Tutors' educational directors may help you find a skilled, independent tutor near Boulder, CO, who may guide you on the path toward anatomy understanding.

Your tutor, for example, may explain that ventral means toward the front of the body, and dorsal means towards the back. They'll go over terms such as distal, which indicates that an area of interest is away from a point of attachment. Other anatomical terms that may stump students at first include visceral, parietal, and even dorsal. Even learning the parts and functions of the digestive system may be challenging, and these are relevant to many aspects of biology.

Session Summaries by Anatomy Tutors

Anatomy Tutoring review by Ron in Boulder, CO
The student communicated to me that he made good improvement on the test he took last week. This evening we covered concepts regarding heredity, the structure of the DNA molecule, experiments that were done regarding the discovery of DNA as the molecule responsible for heredity, the components that make up nucleotides, the concept of the double helix, and the kinds of base pairings that occur between them (A with T and G with C). Finally, it was explained to him the molecules that bond to make up the backbone of DNA (the sugar deoxyribose via phosphodiester linkages) and the hydrogen bonding in the DNA molecule. The difference between purines and pyrimidines were explained and that DNA is always read from the 5 prime to 3 prime end of the molecule.

Today's session was used to review for the student's test tomorrow. We discussed primarily genetics, including Mendelian inheritance and the chromosomal theory of inheritance. We finished by doing a quick quiz over all of the concepts that will be on the test. She did a great job with the material, and shows that she will be able to answer any questions on the exam. We will plan to meet next Wednesday and review any new material.

Anatomy Tutoring review by Sara in Boulder, CO
We went over two lectures the student had done since the last time we met. After finishing the lectures, I tested him on the material. He was much more familiar with behavioral ecology than the introduction to ecology. The student knows that he needs to review the intro to ecology more thoroughly.
