Today we spent a good portion of the time going through one of the practice tests the student took and helping her understand each of the concepts. After that, we moved on to molecular/cellular biology and learned of all the different parts of an animal cell and their function. We also went over the phases of the mitotic cell cycle. We also discussed some genetics and mutations. Punnett squares were also reviewed from last time.

We started reviewing for her test on Friday by going over unit objectives: -Four macromolecules: carbs, lipids, proteins and nucleic acids (their function and structure) -Enzymes and their role in the body -Functional groups and how they affect molecules We covered the dehydration synthesis reactions and she was able to draw the reaction and discuss what is happening. I would ask her to explain the objectives to me and would help fill in any gaps.

We did a bit of review for photosynthesis and cell respiration since the student has a test tomorrow. She has basically mastered the material. She had worked through the vast majority of the end-of-chapter practice problems, and we checked the ones she did not know. I expect she will do well on this test and I will hear about the results Wednesday!
