Algebra Tutoring review by Christopher in Suffolk County, NY
The student and I went over what he is currently studying in class; factoring polynomials with a leading coefficient greater than 1. He has the basic understanding down of how to factor, but might need some more repetition. We first went over how to factor by guess and check, but then went over how factor by grouping. He was catching on to this new method, but would benefit from some additional practice.

Algebra Tutoring review by Liny in Suffolk County, NY
We went over completing the square. After a couple of problems he was able to grasp the concept. We also reviewed other factoring techniques that he had trouble with. He showed me his test that he got back on factoring. He knows how to factor trinomials, but had trouble with factoring by greatest common factor, difference of two squares and trinomials with a coefficient greater than 1. I provided problems for him to do on his own and he explained to me step by step what he was doing. Talking out loud helped him concentrate on his work. He was very cooperative. He did not hesitate to ask for help when he needed to review other topics that he already learned.

Algebra Tutoring review by Danny in Suffolk County, NY
The student has a test to finish by next Monday, so today we spent time going over material that she felt she needed some review with. This included completing the square in order to find the standard form equation of a circle, word problems, interval and set notation, inequalities, and domain unions and intersections. We worked on simple ways to solve these problems, which worked out well for her. For example, for intersections, she finds it easier to draw out a number line and see where her two domains overlap. For completing the square, she was simply given instructions on how to complete the square. From there, she was able to solve the rest of the problem. She practiced each problem type multiple times. She was instructed to prepare for her exam with practice problems, and making sure she understands everything in her practice problems.

Algebra Tutoring review by Benjamin in Suffolk County, NY
We reviewed for the student's chapter 8.1-8.5 quiz a little bit, but mainly concentrated on finishing his homework (factoring polynomials). We got his homework done and by the end he had proceeded to know the material much better. He still will need some extra practice to be able to master it. We agreed to meet next Tuesday at the regular time.

Algebra Tutoring review by Chad in Suffolk County, NY
This evening's work focused specifically on parallel lines and transversals. We worked numerous examples to fine-tune the student's ability to identify corresponding, alternate interior, alternate exterior, and consecutive interior angles. By the end, he had his method down and could identify these angles with 100% accuracy.
