Algebra Tutoring review by Jessica in Suffolk, VA
The student and I met and reviewed his progress so far in Algebra. He had a quiz last week and got a 94% so he feels good about polynomials/ end behavior/ exponents. He had some homework today covering simplifying radicals; this homework applied properties of exponents so it was a good review for us to go through together. He also needed some help in Chemistry on Ideal and Derived. We took some time to talk about how he should approach this type of problem as well as review conversions and units. He had a good handle on the concepts and how to apply them.

Algebra Tutoring review by Forrest in Suffolk, VA
We reviewed missed questions from the test taken last week. She also worked on her homework regarding multiplying polynomials using FOIL, and reviewed her homework from the last week regarding adding and subtracting polynomials. She says she is very confident with the two subjects. I would suggest more practice problems on both adding and multiplying polynomials.

We spent some time on exponents and how they interact when multiplied or divided, which the student is getting the hang of quickly. He seems to retain basic concepts very well.

Algebra Tutoring review by Kori in Suffolk, VA
The student wanted to review topics in exponential expressions in preparation for her upcoming math assessment. We began the session by simplifying rational expressions with positive and negative exponents. After a quick reminder, she was able to complete these types of problems without assistance. We moved on to complicating the problems by adding constants to the variables, raising powers to powers, and doing problems that required factoring before simplifying. She consistently was able to do the first two types of problems, and will continue more practice with factoring. We finished by doing some orders of operations problems and she was able to easily do those. Next week we'll continue to practice the above types of problems and will cover graphing points and lines in case those topics appear on the assessment.

Algebra Tutoring review by Katherine in Suffolk, VA
We went over linear functions, domain and range, and direct and indirect variation problems. The student did well with direct and indirect variation problems. She had a little trouble with linear functions. She seemed to forget the point slope form of a linear equation and how to find the slope given two points. She did start to do better with this after we did some practice problems.
